The Wellness and Recovery Community Center provides an opportunity for people to direct their own recovery and advocacy process and to help others develop skills to lead meaningful lives. Services are focused on mental health and substance use disorders and help foster individual growth by having people feel comfortable with themselves, develop a sense of identity with support from others and establish a sense of self-determination.

The center is open 5 days a week. The program operates Tuesday, Thursday from 12:00pm to 8:30pm, Wednesday and Friday from 1:00pm to 8:30pm, and Saturday from 9:30am to 6:00pm. You can "drop in" any time during those hours and stay as you like. We strictly enforce the current safety protocols as it relates to the Covid pandemic; therefore face mask and temperature checks are required for entry and participation. There is no requirement to drop by, other than you must be 18 or older, diagnosed with a mental illness, and have a strong desire to learn and share with peers. We also invite family and friends to attend for special groups, presentations, and activities. A monthly calendar indicates the days and hours of operation, as well as some of the planned events/activities for the month. Transportation is not provided by the center. We encourage use of the local public transportation system, which stops within steps of the building.

The Double Trouble in Recovery (DTR) group will be held Tuesdays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm and Fridays from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. DTR has been adapted from the Twelve Step program of Alcoholics Anonymous and is designed to meet the needs of people who, in addition to having a substance use disorder, have also been diagnosed with a mental health disorder (often referred to as a "dual diagnosis".)

Charles County Freedom Landing Wellness and Recovery Community Center is run by persons in recovery for persons in recovery. Individuals are encouraged to be as independent as possible by taking control of their own recovery path.
